From tidal oyster leases and strong currents in the Clyde River to shallow rocky coastline, Batemans Bay presents rescue challenges that larger vessels cannot always navigate. Marine Rescue Batemans Bay’s volunteers respond around the clock to local and visiting water users, including people caught out by unfamiliar conditions. A swift-water access craft can be carried aboard a larger rescue vessel and launched close to casualties. An IMB Bank Community Foundation grant will support the specialised craft, enabling safer access to shallow, confined and difficult locations. The upgrade will shorten rescues, reduce crew risk and help return people safely to shore.
