Foundation funding will support the purchase of timbales, which are shallow open-bottom drums that play a major part in Cuban and Latin music. Apart from increasing opportunities for percussionists to learn new drumming techniques, the timbales will enable the group to expand its repertoire and appeal to the diverse audiences they attract. Funding will also be used to replace music stands.
