For people experiencing homelessness, a book can offer escape, comfort and connection. The Footpath Library’s volunteer-run mobile services bring free, quality books, reading glasses and welcoming conversation to streets, community centres, social housing, shelters and refuges. Readers can choose books to keep, share stories and enjoy an inclusive space where they are treated with dignity and respect. A grant from the Foundation will help keep mobile libraries stocked and operating, extending access to more people across Australia. By supporting reading and social inclusion, the program can reduce isolation, encourage wellbeing and provide food for the mind and soul through stories.
