Since 2004, Shire Woodworking Club members have turned their skills to provide comfort and joy for young patients at Sydney Children’s Hospital, donating more than 19,000 handmade items. Working with the hospital’s Child Life and Music Therapy team, volunteers create wooden toys and practical ward items that help children play, learn and cope during hospital stays. An IMB Bank Community Foundation grant will purchase a large supply of laser-ready plywood, an essential material for many designs. The funding will keep the club’s toy-making program productive, support members’ community contribution and ensure children continue receiving crafted items made especially for their needs.
