Reading Out of Poverty’s Bright Start Book Project supports children aged zero to five experiencing disadvantage, providing new, age-appropriate books and early literacy resources for the home. Each pack also equips parents and carers with practical guidance to establish regular reading routines and embrace their role as their child’s first teacher. The IMB Bank Community Foundation grant will help distribute these resources to families who may otherwise have limited access to books. By encouraging reading from birth, the project strengthens language development, family connection and school readiness, helping young children build foundational literacy skills and confidence to flourish throughout life.
