Pedal Power ACT’s Fitability program creates inclusive cycling opportunities for Canberrans with vision impairment or other disabilities who cannot ride independently. Volunteer pilots ride at the front of tandem bicycles, steering, braking and changing gears, while participants ride as stokers at the rear. The IMB Bank Community Foundation grant will help replace the program’s ageing tandem fleet, including bicycles more than 20 years old. New, reliable tandems will improve safety, accommodate different riders and sustain social rides, training and community events. The upgrade will help participants build confidence, stay active and experience the freedom, connection and enjoyment of cycling together.
