
Many of the volunteers at Newcastle Meals on Wheels are the first line of response from in-home falls, which occur on average once per month. Foundation funding will help improve onboarding through the creation of tailored learning modules and volunteer handbooks, sign-up forms, shirts and ID cards, as well as the implementation of a volunteer management system that enables digital recognition and ongoing training and communication. The end goal is to enhance volunteer engagement and development throughout their journey with Meals on Wheels, ensuring they’re equipped with the knowledge and tools to deliver the highest standard of care and support to older Australians.
