Migration Heritage Project

Migration Heritage Project’s Oral Preservation Project will create a web documentary series capturing and formally archiving stories of people whose contributions have shaped the Illawarra and multicultural Australia. A 2026 IMB Bank Community Foundation grant will support collaboration, advocacy and storytelling that preserves the Illawarra’s diverse cultural heritage while producing engaging community content. The stories will also advance the long-term vision for the Museum of People, Country and Industry, a contemporary storytelling centre highlighting the region’s pivotal role in Australia’s social and industrial transformation. By safeguarding histories, the project will connect generations and celebrate the communities behind the region’s identity.
