In 2016, the Merimbula Old School Museum started research on the history of the Gould League of Bird Lovers and the Dawson Shield, the award given to the public school which won the annual bird calling competition. This was an important feature of the educational program for local schools from 1946 to the 1960s. The collapsible banner will facilitate this outreach program and research.
