Flame Tree Community Food Co-operative

Flame Tree Community Food Co-operative’s Waste Reduction and Local Food Project will improve access to fresh, affordable and responsibly sourced food across the Illawarra. Foundation funding will help reduce produce spoilage, strengthen in-store education and encourage greater participation from members and volunteers. As a member-owned, not-for-profit grocer, Flame Tree supports small growers and offers organic staples, local produce, bulk foods and artisan goods with minimal packaging. The project will build practical food knowledge, strengthen connections between shoppers and local suppliers, and improve the co-operative’s long-term resilience. Together, these outcomes will support a fairer, lower-waste local food system.
