For families facing hardship, school can provide a trusted pathway to practical support. Compass Community Care’s Schools Community Food Pantry works discreetly through wellbeing staff, offering dignified, invitation-based access to groceries without requiring families to seek help at a public service. Following a Bentleigh East pilot, the program will expand to 10 schools across four council areas by March 2027. An IMB Bank Community Foundation grant will fund custom food crate trolleys and shelving bays, enabling safe storage, efficient handling and distribution. The infrastructure will help Compass extend reliable food relief while protecting privacy, choice and respect for participating families.
