One of the many effects of the devastating 2019-20 “Black Summer” fires on the Batemans Bay community was the impact on surf lifesaving participation, in particular the nippers program. As the community has rebuilt, 2022 saw a huge increase in nipper enrolments (the highest in over 7 years). Foundation funding is restoring facilities and re-equipping the club for summers to come.
