IMB Bank is pleased to announce that following a successful non-executive director recruitment search facilitated by an external firm, effective 1 May 2023, Mr Brian Bissaker will join the Board of IMB Bank and its subsidiaries. Mr Bissaker is appointed by the Board to fill the casual vacancy arising through the impending retirement of Jan Swinhoe who has served as a director since 2014.
Brian has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry including as the CEO of Colonial First State and Virgin Money Australia and as a Group Executive of the Bank of Queensland. Brian has a background in funds management, superannuation and banking across retail and institutional markets and has held a number of senior executive positions with responsibilities spanning product development, marketing, customer experience, strategic advice, mergers and acquisitions and end-to-end business management.
Brian is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors with extensive Board and Committee experience gained through his work as an executive and non-executive director. He is currently a director of MetLife Insurance Limited where he also chairs the Audit Committee and is chair of the board of Artega Investment Administration Pty Ltd, Monte Sant Angelo Mercy College and Year 13 Pty Ltd. Brian was formerly a director of Citigroup Pty Limited and MyState Limited and is well equipped to support the governance requirements of IMB as an ADI regulated by APRA.
IMB Chair Cathy Aston said, “We are delighted to welcome Brian to the board and look forward to the strategic contribution he will make leveraging his previous experience in driving revenue and customer growth in technology-led businesses and through product and service innovations.
“Brian has outstanding technical and strategic skills that will benefit the Board, and he is also passionate about making a difference in the lives of others including through organisations addressing homelessness in Australia. The Board sees purpose-driven work like this as being very much aligned with IMB’s values as mutual organisation.”
“We also take this opportunity to recognise director Jan Swinhoe who will shortly retire after nine (9) years as a director. Jan’s deep banking expertise has seen her make a broad contribution to the oversight and continuous improvement of IMB’s governance, risk, audit and people and culture frameworks. Jan has provided invaluable guidance and stewardship as the Chair of the IMB Community Foundation Committee and we are pleased to confirm that Jan will continue to act as the Chair of the Committee through until the conclusion of the funding activities for the 2023 year.”
Mr Bissaker will stand for re-appointment by members at the 2023 IMB Annual General Meeting of members.
