IMB Bank announces that Peter Fitzgerald has retired as a Director of IMB Ltd and its subsidiaries, effective 30 September 2026.
Mr Fitzgerald joined the Board in September 2017 and has served for several years as Chair of the Board Audit Committee. Over the past nine years, he has brought extensive financial, audit, taxation and business advisory experience to the Board, together with a strong understanding of the Illawarra community and the importance of the mutual banking model.
IMB Chair, Cathy Aston, said Mr Fitzgerald had made a valued contribution to IMB’s governance and oversight throughout a period of significant change for the banking sector.
“Peter has brought sound judgement and a strong commitment to doing what is right for IMB’s members and employees throughout his time on the Board. His leadership of the Audit Committee has helped maintain strong financial reporting, audit and control practices. He has also cared deeply about fostering a positive culture and a highly engaged workforce, recognising that when our people feel supported and engaged, they are best placed to deliver good outcomes for our members. Peter’s thoughtful advice and contribution have been greatly valued by the Board and management.”
“On behalf of the Board, I thank Peter for his dedicated service to IMB and wish him well for the future.”
The Board is well progressed with its succession planning process and expects to appoint a director to fill this casual vacancy later in 2026.
