If you have just finished your HSC and you are wondering what your next step might be, how about a career in the financial services industry?

That’s exactly what three young people from the Illawarra did in 2015 and today they are graduating from IMB Bank’s traineeship program.

Taylah Grant, Julia Russell and Deniz Karaerik received their graduation certificates from IMB Bank CEO Robert Ryan at a ceremony this morning also attended by two graduates of IMB’s first trainee intake in 2005.

Jodi Crewdson, who is now the Team Leader of the Digital Team in IMB Bank’s Contact Centre, and Naomi Ashton, a Business/Project Analyst with IMB’s Banking Services team, are also part of IMB’s 2016 Future Leaders program and testament to the success of traineeships.

“I am always delighted to congratulate our trainees and I believe our program is one of the best in the State,” Robert Ryan said.

“We have recruited 104 trainees since 2005 and 94% of them went on to work with IMB in permanent roles.

“Both Jodi and Naomi are great examples of the career path a traineeship offers and I would urge any HSC student who might be interested to apply now for our next intake in 2017.

“Although a traineeship at IMB is in the banking sector, there are many career paths that can be chosen such as business, marketing, project management, human resources, IT, call centre or retail banking,” Mr Ryan said.

IMB’s trainees have also been recognised on a State basis with three being finalists for the NSW Trainee of the Year award, 18 winners in the Regional Trainee of the Year awards and in 2016, IMB was a finalist in the Australian Retail Banking Awards – Career Development Category.

Also recognised during the morning tea celebration were Cheerie Simpson and Cameron Holden, who work at IMB and have undertaken and obtained tertiary qualifications throughout the year, supported by the bank.
