IMB Building Society has offered some financial relief to its members directly affected by BlueScope Steel’s decision to cut jobs in the Illawarra.

IMB members of the Wollongong-based mutual building society who lose their jobs are being offered a Relief Package that includes:

  • Waiving of any IMB deposit account transaction fees for 3 months
  • Waiving of any IMB term deposit break costs for 3 months
  • Assistance with IMB loan repayments

IMB Building Society Chief Executive Robert Ryan is advising those IMB members who will be impacted by the job cuts and may need assistance to contact IMB, and their situations will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

“The Illawarra is IMB’s heartland. We’ve been based in the region since 1880 and our experience, strength and security has seen us through some very tumultuous times. With the BlueScope Steel decision, IMB is committed to doing what we can to help relieve the strain on our affected members.” Mr Ryan said.

“A focus on our member’s financial wellbeing has always been part of IMB’s business philosophy and as such, we encourage those IMB members who will be impacted by the job cuts to contact IMB to work through their individual situation.”
