130 YEARS ON, IMB IS STILL ON TOP.

In its 130th year, IMB has secured back-to-back recognition, retaining the highest honours in the prestigious Money magazine Consumer Finance Awards 2010.

It was announced today IMB has won Australia’s Building Society of the Year 2010 award for the second year running, the fourth time it has won the award in six years.

Established in 1880, IMB also celebrates 130 years in business this year, with a growing branch network, strong financial results and member satisfaction levels over 95%.

“In our 130th year, the award is testament to the hard work of our staff in meeting our member’s financial needs.”says IMB Chief Executive, Robert Ryan.

“At IMB, we are a proudly local, member-based building society with a long history of offering members a truly competitive alternative to the banks; and these awards confirm this.”

Each year, the Money magazine awards draw on an independent panel of experts from CANNEX to assess more than 19,000 financial products and more than 300 financial institutions to determine the best financial products and services for consumers.

“In every aspect, we strive to put members and the local communities first, and these awards prove you don’t have to sacrifice competitiveness to deliver the personal service that IMB is renowned for,” adds Mr Ryan.

“This award reflects the competitiveness of our business. It is based on a range of criteria – but most importantly it reflects the quality, great value and range of our products covering home loans, savings accounts, personal loans and Business Banking products” Mr Ryan said.

In addition to providing competitive financial products and services, IMB has had a long tradition of showing tangible support for the communities in which its members live and work. Since 2000, the IMB Community Foundation has pledged more than $5million to worthwhile community groups. In 2010, the Foundation will provide more than $400,000 in funding to 39 community organisations.
